Seongsu-dong's unchanging home cooking, since 1994
From a tiny corner shop to a beloved local tavern over 30 years — home-style Korean meals from the owner everyone calls Ottuki Ajumma.
About
In 1994, when Seongsu-dong was still a factory district, a small corner shop with a faded yellow sign — ‘Ottuki Sikpum’ — opened its doors.
The owner, known to all as Ottuki Ajumma, cooked so well that she began serving everyday favorites like spicy pork, kimchi stew, and grilled pork belly — and the shop quietly became the neighborhood's kitchen and favorite tavern.
House-fermented kimchi, hand-cut Korean pork, a taste that never changes. For over 30 years it has carried the memories of Seongsu-dong's people.
Story
The road Ottuki Sikpum has walked. Not a grand timeline — just the record of a taste that kept one alley alive.
When Seongsu-dong was a factory district, the neighborhood's day began here, beneath a yellow sign.
Word spread about the owner's cooking. Spicy pork, kimchi stew, braised chicken, pork belly — everyday favorites became the menu, one by one.
Where factory workers unwound after a long day. A glass of soju and a warm dish held the joys and sorrows of the neighborhood.
A hidden Seongsu-dong institution, now visited even by broadcasters and celebrities.
Today, too, she ferments the kimchi, cuts the meat, and sets the table — just as in 1994.
